Data deletion

Draft pending legal review.

How data deletion works on WebBoard

How your data is deleted depends on the type of account.

1. School-managed accounts (students, teachers, staff)

If you use WebBoard through a school, your school is the controller of your data. You cannot delete your school account or its records yourself, because the school is responsible for them and may be legally required to keep certain records, such as grades and attendance, for set periods under education law. To request deletion or correction of your data, contact your school administrator. The school decides the request in line with its legal obligations and instructs us; we then carry out the deletion or return of data on the school's behalf.

2. Personal accounts (not linked to a school)

If you have a personal account that is not part of any organisation, you can delete it yourself from your profile settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your boards, files, recordings and other personal content. Some records may be retained where the law requires, such as billing records kept for accounting.

3. When a school stops using WebBoard

When a school ends its use of WebBoard, we return or delete the school's data in accordance with the Data Processing Agreement.

4. Backups and timing

Deleted data is removed from active systems promptly and purged from backups within our standard backup cycle.

5. Requesting a copy of your data

You can request a copy of your personal data. For school data, contact your school; for personal accounts, contact us via the contact page.
